BIPs or Blended Intensive Programmes are…
…short, intensive programmes that use innovative ways of learning and teaching, including the use of online cooperation. The programmes may include challenge-based learning, where transnational and transdisciplinary teams work together to tackle challenges, for example, those linked to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals or other societal challenges identified by regions, cities, or companies. The intensive programme should have added value compared to existing courses or training offered by the participating HEIs and can be multiannual. By enabling new and more flexible mobility formats that combine physical mobility with a virtual component, blended intensive programmes aim to reach all types of students from diverse backgrounds, study fields, and academic cycles.

Within the EOA, we support and encourage our partner institutes to develop BIPs that enlarge opera education horizons by challenging our educational communities to think outside the box and facilitate learning experiences with interdisciplinary teams.
“New operas to spark dialogue and inspire change”
The world has undergone significant shifts in the past two years, both politically and socially. We aim to explore current critical themes through a contemporary operatic lens. The primary goals are to create and tour new operas that explore 21st-century struggles, addressing culturally, socially, politically, ethnically, and/or psychologically relevant issues. Performances will take place in Antwerp, Porto, and Valencia in March and April 2027.
